The Corner House
Located on Coburg St. the Corner House is the pub to visit in Cork. Regular free music on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, occasional gigs on other nights (always free!). that range from bluegrass music to traditional provides the entertainment. The owner, Fergal Mac Gaghann, ensures that everyone is welcome, and if he is not too busy he will make a huge effort to introduce you his customary, genuine warmth. Lunches include homemade soup, fresh soda bread and a variety of fresh and toasted sandwiches which are probably the best in Cork - there is always one vegan soup on offer, for those with special dietary needs. Also try a "toasted Kiev" - you will love it.
The Lobby Bar
The Lobby deserves a medal for its contribution to the music life of the city. It is always willing to give talent a chance; the tiny upstairs hosted the likes of Sinead Lohan, long before she achieved international success. There are paid gigs and free sessions in the main bar so one can always find something to his/her taste.
The Long Valley
It is located on the St. Patrick's St. The "Valley" has been a favourite place for generations of Cork dwellers and visitors alike. Known for its sandwiches, you are sure to meet an exciting mix of people - from blue-collar workers and professionals to home-spun philosophers (take everything you are told with more than a pinch of salt!)
